Vaishnavi Kumari(2002)

Vaishnavi Kumariis a 4th generation mayoite who was in school from 1994-2002. She went on to study accessory design in Nift, New Dehli and art history at the British Museum. In recent years has completed a Masters in History of art and archeology from SOAS, University of London and started an art workshop Studio Kishangarh in her hometown. The studio endeavors to preserve and promote traditional miniature paintings by giving employment to local artists and creating modern works of art using traditional techniques and motifs. “As a 4th generation Mayoite, I feel a deep connection and responsibility towards our much-loved school.” My work and residence is in Kishangarh, a city just half an hour away from Ajmer. This gives me both access and time to devote to the alumni association, locally. Since 1994, I have seen the school grow, first as a student but more importantly in recent years as an ex-mayoite with a younger sister in school. Therefore my vision comes with the unique perspective of what Mayo was, what it is currently and hopefully what we can make it one day”.
